F.O.C.U.S. : Follow One Course Until Successful

"Life is Like a Camera, FOCUS on what's important and you'll capture it perfectly."
Focus, Concentration and Persistence are very important to attain success in anything that you are doing.
You have convinced your mind about the goal that you want to achieve. You know what you have to do to achieve your goals. But still, you find yourself quite near to the goal but are still not there.

Your determination is not to be questioned here. It is just a lack of Focus and Concentration that you have.

You can't put continuous sitting to complete your tasks? The mind keeps wandering off in different directions after working for sometime.

You need to condition you mind to focus on tasks to complete the goals. Learn how to sharpen your focus, be more motivated, and nail the tasks and enjoy the rest of your day.

1. Build up increase your focus stamina

Building up focus requires lots of patience and time. It can't be achieved in just a day or a week. Remember the time when you joined the gym, you would have had gone out and eagerly lifted the heaviest weight.
That's because your stamina was not upto the mark on the first day. But as you progressed, you must have seen your stamina building up.

Similarly, Focus Stamina is the amount of time you spend to focus on some task. To build it up, first give yourself some time, say 20 minutes to devote no where else but a particular task. Then, increase the time slowly by five minutes, then ten, and so on...

Slowly and steadily you will be amazed to see that your focus stamina has increased and you can now concentrate on a task for more time.

2. Meditate

The most effective way to improve your focus is to meditate. Daily meditate for 10 to 20 minutes. It will make you read your inner self, make you feel relaxed as well as improve you focus.

The best thing about meditation is that you shut your eyes and close one of the most distracting senses, the sense of seeing. It enables you to keep the distraction at a minimal level. Then you are more in sync with the other senses of your body, so that when you get down to work all your senses are away from distractions.

3. No Multi-tasking

Though many people think that multi-tasking is a great way to accomplish goals more quickly and to get two or three things done at once, multi-tasking is actually harmful to your concentration. When you multi-task, you may think you're getting more done, but you're not putting all of your focus and energy into any one task, which actually harms your concentration.

Work on getting just one thing done at a time and you'll see that you get this done more quickly.

4. Use the Pomodoro technique

Taking its name from a Pomodoro timer, which runs for 25 minutes, the Pomodoro technique is a practice of focusing intently on something for 25 minutes and then taking a five-minute break to get coffee, go to the bathroom, whatever. -Selene Chew

5. Do what you enjoy doing

When you do what you enjoy, you don't need to force yourself to focus your energies on it. Keep enjoying, keep loving what you are doing and success will surely be yours.

6. Divide the goal into small, manageable tasks

An end goal in mind, while providing an initial drive, can confuse and frustrate a person, and you lose focus. That’s because if your target goal is difficult or big (as it should be), then you may not see any immediate results which bring you closer to it. Break it down into smaller targets, improvements that you ca achieve within a day or a week, and check it off as another rung to your ‘ladder’ of success.

7. Listen to Music

It helps you stay in your workflow, keeps you in the groove, and maintains the tempo. I am a big advocate of this technique. As I write this article, I am listening to some Protoculture and Hoobastank to keep me going.

Everybody has a different music which stimulates you to focus. Just find what suits you.

Bonus Tip: You can also learn some musical instrument to build up focus as it involves lots of hand-eye-ear coordination in sync.
