"The problem is not lack of time, rather than lack of direction. We all have 24 hours." ~ Zig Ziglar
Lots of procrastination creeps up because of the sheer number of choices of tasks, a person can do. You can do the laundry, have to write a blog, have to cook, watch that movie, go to work, spend time with family, take the dog for a walk, take your spouse for dinner... Phew! that's a lot to ask from a day.. right??? NO!!!

These are small things on a day-to-day basis. It's your day and you have to decide the priority level of each task. Can that movie wait for another day?? Just prioritize and get to it.

2. Don't Like it? Still do it!

When I was younger, my mom used to give me some food which I didn't like by saying "Dawai Samajh k khaa lo" (Think of it as a medicine, and just gulp it). I never liked the things in the beginning but, slowly I got the likeness for the taste of those foods.

There may be some tasks which you might not like at first. Just do it without thinking. In time you might like it or even if you don't like it, the work has been done and get to the thing that you like.

3. Reward Yourself

This is my favorite. I, personally work on rewards. That doesn't mean physical materialistic rewards, though those can't be harming. For me even getting a Subway or a Doughnut is a reward. And the best thing I could give myself was the opportunity to meet my family when I was working out in another city. When I knew that on this specific day, I'm gonna be going home to meet my mom and my dog and be alot happier and get to drive the whole night to reach home (I like night-driving, wanna come for a drive?? ;) )... I would complete my work much faster and with vigor and zeal.

I don't think I need to explain any further. :)

4. Break It Up.

We procrastinate because we have a daunting task ahead of us. You can break up the task in smaller tasks and get to complete the tasks. In a staircase, you can always tread the stairs step by step and not to the top in one go, similarly, a huge task can be accomplished when you divide it in smaller steps and keep doing them until the whole task is complete.

5. Stop Worrying About the Final Outcome.

That doesn't mean you should stop visualizing the final outcome. Keep the bigger picture in mind but don't fret on it and keep thinking and worrying your wits for it. I know your final outcome is not a small thing and it needs constant perspiration and persistence.

No need to worry about the finish line. You’ll never reach it unless you cross the starting line first. During my student time, I remember I was always afraid of writing big answers for my examinations, especially those essays... Does anyone share my pain?? I used to think for 10 15 minutes, just couldn't start. But the timing would be running out. So, I would just muster up the courage and start with the first lines. Once I would start writing and gain momentum, then there is nothing stopping me.

You just have to start without thinking what beholds as the final outcome.

6. Remember: Nobody is Perfect.

We often procrastinate because we want it to be just Perfect. But, remember, however best you might do a thing, there is always scope of improvement. We all learn as we go ahead. We never really learned to walk in the first place, we crawled and then learned how to stand and then came the walking part, and we were never perfect at that too.

So give yourself the permission not to be perfect. Remember, Amitabh Bachchan was first rejected for a Radio Announcer before he got into acting.

7. Do it Daily.

Combating Procrastination is not a one day affair. Make sure you take action every day, no matter how small. This will help you feel good about yourself and eventually lead to beating laziness!

Remember Consistency is the Key to fighting Procrastination, Inspiring yourself to the Road to Success.
